Motorcycle Accidents
It is a sad and worrying fact that 62% of all motorcycle accidents
are caused by other road users. The Institute of Motorcycling commissioned
a survey of Metropolitan Police data covering some 600 accidents
involving motorcyclists, which revealed that the main mistakes made
by road users were:
- Turning right without looking
- Not complying with traffic and road signs, and
- Failure to anticipate other traffic
Research would seem to suggest that contrary to popular belief,
the majority of motorcyclists are extremely responsible and the
image of racing around public highways is a myth.
There are too many campaigns to list on this site, all of whom
are striving for the same goal – to promote a greater awareness
of the problems facing today’s motorcyclist. However, a site well
worth checking is the Motorcycle Action Group who can be found at

Any accident can be traumatic and you may wish to talk to a specialist
counselor. This service is free of charge and completely confidential.
