This means that you do not have to pay for your case as it goes along. However, if you win compensation then your solicitor can recover the legal costs plus a success fee from your compensation.

If you lose your case then you do not have to pay your own costs, and you can out insurance to protect you from your opponents costs. The premium of this policy is only paid once, and is arranged by your solicitor.

Some solicitors may act under a "Contingency Fee".

You will not be charged if you lose, but instead of charging their normal rate plus a "success fee,' they take a share of your compensation.

Insurance is available to you in the event that you lose your case protecting you against the costs of your opponent.
